Tournament Rules and Regulations

As with any tournament, we promote the playing of missions in the fairest way possible, which means that cheating by way of the use of hacks, cheats, and/or exploits of Ghost Recon or the modification of any Ghost Recon files in any way is expressly forbidden.

Let’s have fun out there guys, and enjoy this send-off to Ghost Recon 1.

The following rules and regulations are designed to clarify, as much as possible, the way this tournament will be conducted, how teams are expected to participate, and how the final outcomes will be determined.

If there are any requests for clarification of any of the rules and regulations, then these must be made ONLY by the primary contact that has registered the team for the tournament. Please use ONLY the official forums for submitting questions for clarification. Clarification relating to briefings for each mission will only be allowed until 4 hours before the first team inserts on that mission, at that point he discussion thread for that briefing will be locked.

Team Regulations:

1) Teams will become eligible for participation on a first-come, first-serve basis.

2) The total number of teams able to participate will be limited to 20. The organizers reserve the right to change the total number if deemed necessary.

3) Teams MUST have a minimum of 6 players to register. There is no limit on the number of team members that a team may have. However, a team must insert a minimum of 1 player but cannot insert more than 9 players, per mission.

4) Team registration can ONLY be made through the dedicated Community Coop portal at www.specialdetachment.org/tourney2007/. All registration requests sent via PM, email or posted in forums will be ignored.

5) All teams must present themselves in the designated TeamSpeak server lobby 15 minutes prior to the scheduled Mission start time for a final rundown of rules and mission specific briefing information.

6) It is the responsibility of each team to schedule their mission in a timely manner according to the protocols set for by the tournament organizers. Failure to insert “as scheduled” will result in a forfeit for the mission and the team will be assigned the minimum possible score for the mission. There shall be no make-ups for forfeited missions.

Mission Rules:

1) Each missions has a 60 minute maximum time limit.

2) If any team member loses connection to the game server within the first 3 minutes of a mission starting, a restart will be granted. The maximum number of restarts for dropped players will be 3. After that time, the mission will proceed as intended.

3) A team may request a restart due to lag issues within the first 3 minutes of a mission. After 3 minutes of play the grader will confirm that the team finds the lag playable, and will declare the mission playable. Once declared playable the mission will not be restarted for any reason.

4) In the event that a player drops after the 3 minute period, and an AI team member will be available. The team may employ the AI teammate within the mission using the standard team controls, or they may switch into the AI body to directly control it if desired. If a team member dies while the AI is in play, the dead player may switch into, and directly control the AI body instead of leaving play.

5) If a team member dies, they will have their voice rights revoked in TeamSpeak and are required to exit the game. Dead team members are welcome to stay in the TeamSpeak channel to listen to the conclusion of the mission. If a team member dies, and there is an AI body available (as described above), then they may switch into and use the AI body.

Scoring:

1) No points will be awarded until the game has played to its conclusion. This will be either by: a. Time limit has expired b. Extraction has been completed c. All team members have died

2) Points will be confirmed by the grader at the conclusion of the mission.

3) Scoring for all teams will be posted at the conclusion of the entire round for each mission.

4) Final placings for the tournament will be decided by the team that has the highest number of points.

5) In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided based on the fewest team members killed.

7) In the unlikely event that the scores are still tied, then the team who has completed all of the missions in the shortest time shall be declared the winner.

General Policy:

1) Failure to abide by any of these rules may result in a forfeit for the current mission and all future missions.

2) If during play of a mission a grader has ANY reasonable suspicion that a team, or an individual member of a team has cheated, the entire team shall forfeit their current standing. Likewise, if we receive evidence of a team, or an individual member of a team, cheating during any Ghost Recon gaming session, while this tournament is in progress, the entire team shall forfeit their current standing. There shall be no appeals process. There shall be no public release of the mission recordings or TeamSpeak transcripts. The judgment of the tournament organizers will be final.

3) These rules may be amended at any time, up until the first insertion of the Tournament.

4) Our pledge to you: We will do nothing to promote or encourage a winner or any specific outcome. We will be impartial, and judge solely on the basis of these rules and a desire to encourage fair play and enjoyment for all participants.
